Production Day 10

Today i created a soundtrack and sound effects using garageband. i looked for intense sound clips that would build suspense throughout the film, i also looked for sounds that are sharp and loud to frighten the viewer. by the end of the day i was happy with the sound clips that i had created and began to put them together with the film footage

Production Day 8

Today I began to edit the film using final cut. I began by uploading all of the footage and then putting the clips in order until I had a rough cut of the film. It took quite a while when putting the clips in order as we had filmed a lot of footage and I had to find the correct clips.

Production Day 7

In todays filming session we firstly re-filmed the first two scenes and also cut out some lines from the script that we thought did not fit and give the speech a good flow. once we finished re-filming we went on to filming the final parts to our film. firstly we shot the part when one of the friends is walking about the forest looking for signal on his phone and is then attacked by a hooded figure. we then filmed the final scene where the friend is trapped in a strange box and the rest of the friends go searching for him but don't know what has happened to him. by the end of todays session we had finished filming and are ready to upload and begin to edit of film.

Production Day 6

We filmed the footage that we will use for our opening sequence which involved a point of view shot of the strange figure running through the forrest. We then filmed close up shots of logs and trees that we will later use to incorporate titles.

Production Day 5

Today we uploaded all the footage that we had filmed so far and began to edit it and put in order. we ended up with a rough cut of the first two scenes. Once we put together the first two scene we could see that there were parts missing and some of it did not fit together so we decided that we will reshoot the first part of our film.

Production Day 4

We started filming more detailed shots and began to use close up and extreme close up camera shots showing more detail on our props. by the end of the day we finished filming all scenes that included the tent.

Production Day 3

In this session we filmed a scene that included one of our props which is a tent and had to set it up while filming short clips that we will use in our film. We found that this was one of the harder scenes to shoot. Firstly when setting up the camera to film inside the tent we it was hard to find a realistic camera angle. At the end of this session we seccesfully finished filming the second scene where the group of friends set up the tent in the middle of a Forrest.

Production Day 2

We began to film the first scene in our film where the group of friend first arrive in the Forrest. The first shot we filmed was as if the kidnapper was watching from the bushes and is a long shot followed by a tracking shot of the group of friends walking into the forest and begin to speak to each other. By the end of this session we successfully finished filming the first scene and uploaded the footage to the computer.

On the first sheet there are images of where the group of friends will be traveling and where the tent will be set up. it is also where one of the friends is kidnapped. On the second sheet there are some images of a box shaped object that one of the characters will be trapped inside.

This sheet includes the props that will be used in our short film 'Trapped'. the majority of the props used are equipment that are used when camping because our story is about a group of friends that go camping. the props also include junk food that the teenagers would bring.

the costumes include clothing that would be worn when going camping e.g warm clothes. i have also included the dark costume of the stranger in our film.

the make-up and SFX in our film would include make-up used to create bruises and also fake blood which are both Thriller/Horror conventions and that is the genre of our short film.

Target Audience Member

The task was to create a moodboard using different images that would relate to our 'Trapped' film target audience .
we made a spider diagram and put the images into different groups such as Tv programs, hobbies, films, food, clothing, music and computer games. My target audience member's favorite films would include thrillers, horrors and films that include killers. The brands that they would associate with  are quite expensive and very fashionable. so i have used names of popular brands and stores.

The music they would listen to would be a very large variety so i have used some well know music that includes party music and famous artists. i also used well known genres that are largely listened to. I have also used images of famous computer games and consoles that would be played by a male member of the target audience.

'Trapped' Initial Planning

the task we had been set was to create a short 3-5 minute film titled 'Trapped'. in groups of four we had to think of an idea and write out a plan including the beginning, middle and end. our initial ideas for the film included a group of friends on a camping trip, someone goes missing, when searching for their missing friend they find that they are trapped in the forrest.

Beginning: A group of friends go into the middle of a forrest for a camping trip. they are having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves.

Middle: One of the friends leaves the tent to find signal on their phone. after a while the friends begin to get worried and leave the tent to search for their friend.

End: when searching for their friend in the forrest they begin to hear strange noises and suddenly find their friend dead in the middle of the forrest and then realise they are lost and trapped in the forrest.

Horror Stills Sequence

This is my horror stills sequence that i made in a group of four, me beth, cassie and josh. we each had a individual contribution the the group and mine was performing in the sequence. We began planning our sequence by creating a story board and sketching out each stills with the camera shot, we had to use all the different shots that we learnt for example long shot, close up and establishing shot. Once we finished taking the stills we used photoshop to incorporate some horror effects like blood. We then put the stills together in final cut and added a soundtrack and titles.

Final New York Titles Sequence

In this session we put together our movie sequence with our soundtrack. we also added our ident to the beggining of the sequence. We then added titles to the sequence such as cast names, producers, editors etc and learnt how to make them flout accros the screen and also how to fade them in and out. It was quite difficult when i had to incert all the titles but once knew what to do it became very simple. I then learnt that i could copy the text i just created then paste attributes, this made the process much quicker. Im happy with my final movie sequence and i enjoyed the process of making it.

New York garageband soundtrack session

In this session we used gargeband to create a soundtrack to fit with our New York movie sequence. Once we opened gargeband we could chose from thousands of sound clips that we could put toghether to create a soundtrack. I searched through different beats, synths and melodies until i found a couple that fit together and would go well with my movie sequence. I am happy with what i created as i feel that it creates a good theme when put together with the New York sequence.

New York final cut editing session

In this session we created a sequence from editing together short clips of New York using final cut. We began by opening the folder containing the clips into final cut and then double clicking on them which allowed us to select how much of the clip we wanted to use, after we selected a couple of clips we could cut or trim them so they wouldn't play for too long. We then began to blend the clips together using a simple fade or video transition. my sequence is one minute long and im happy with how i put each clip together.

Logo ident production session

In this session i began to make my logo using photoshop. Firstly what i did was search google for an image of a film roll, once i found one i liked i opened it in photoshop and as i did not want the full image i had to cut out the part i wanted so i used the magnetic lasso tool to do so. Once the film roll image was finished i searched the internet for a unique font that i could use in my logo, When i found the font i downloaded it so that i could use it in photoshop. I then used the text tool to insert the name of my production company and then searched for an effect that would make the text stand out on the logo.

Media production company logo planning session

In this session our task was to start drawing out different ideas that would become the logo for a media production company. I began brainstorming ideas on a piece of paper, each idea had a theme of media involved e.g. film roll, camera. I then came up with a name that i would incorporate into the logo. The name of the company is Melchiorre Ruvolo's Media or Mr Media for short. We also had to think of an animation for the company logo that will be created in Final Cut.

Once i was happy with a design that i will design in photoshop i also thought of a animation. The film roll will fade in followed by the text which will also fade in. i will also add a sound effect of a film projector that will play throughout the animation.

Logo research session

in this session we were told to research two different logo's that we found interesting. We had to research information and history about the logo's, we drew and annotated them and talked about the shape, fonts, colours and size which were used. We also were asked to write about what associations the design elements might suggest. My first logo was Money Clothing. Money Clothing is an urban clothing brand  first established in 2003 by Melvyn de Villiersm together with Nick Cordell. Takashi "Maru" Marujo joined them one year afterwards.
the brand is most commonly remembered for it's logo of the 'King Ape' which is viewable on most of the  company's products. The 'King Ape' logo links to the name 'Money' as it uses a theme of wealth as the 'King Ape' wears a crown.

The second logo that i chose was the Twitter logo. Twitter is an online social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, informally known as "tweets". Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey.

Photoshop Skills Session 1: Club Flyer Task

In this session we had to design a club flyer using photoshop. Firstly We downloaded two different images of our choice that we would blent together to create a background for our flyer. the images had to include some kind of theme that could link to the club, so i used an image of dj turntables and an image of lasers to give it a real club look.

I then opened them in photoshop and used the transparent effect to blend the images together. we used the text tool to write information about our club on the the image e.g club name, opening times and ticket price, we could change the size, font and also use other effects to change the text to make it stand out on the flyer. My flyer has a very simple look, i have tried to match the colour of the text with the background but at the same time making it stand out with it's bold font.

Photoshop Skills Session 1: Earth & Eye Exercise

In our first session we used photoshop to create an image by blending two images together. We began by downloading each image from Flickr, one was a picture of an eye and the other was of the earth. We then opened them in photoshop and moved the image of the earth onto the eye, we cut the earth out from its background using the magnetic lasso tool. Then we resized the earth so it was the same size as the eye and used an effect that changed the transparency of the earth. We also used effects to change the colour and texture of the image. This process took a while as we had to get used to using the different tools but once we finished we were happy with the outcome.
